How To Find The Most Durable Shutter In Orlando

Todd Hansen

One of our stores in Texas was recently reached by a previous customer. The customer had their house wiped out by a tornado earlier this year, but the house’s Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters made it through the ordeal.

The client’s house had to be completely rebuilt after the storm, but there were only a small number of slats broken on one shutter panel on one side of their home. All of the other Polywood shutters in the house survived in flawless shape! The customers are currently rebuilding their home, and before long, their local Sunburst store will reinstall the original shutters in their reconstructed house.

Hopefully, your shutters won’t be subject to a natural disaster. But there are a few things to make sure of when selecting shutters in Orlando that are durable and will beautify your home for decades.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is just one instance of the durability and hardiness of our Polywood shutters. Refer to our lifetime limited warranty.

Sturdy Material

The first quality to be sure of when you want a durable window treatment is that it’s made from a highly resilient material. For wood shutters, look for ones made from hardwood with a reputation for being both solid and lightweight. Both furniture grade teak and basswood (the woods our Ovation® shutters are built with) meet this criteria.

If you’re in the market for faux wood shutters, look for a product constructed from a solid compound like our Polywood® shutters. These shutters are more resilient than composite shutters, whose weaker composition is more susceptible to chips and scratches. Polywood shutters are also resistant to fire, moisture, and termites.

Superior Construction

A shutter’s build plays a large part in its resilience. Polywood shutters are made with tension control pins that keep the louvers tight. They also have stainless steel staples covered in epoxy which are incredibly hard to pull out. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are fortified and glued to give unrivaled strength. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and are made with two styles of joints: dowel joints and mortise and tenon joints, which allows for extra stability. We are the sole company that makes shutters built with extreme durability in mind.

Sunburst Shutters also takes special care in the measuring, creation, and installation processes to make sure you get picture-perfect custom shutters that complement your windows perfectly.

Color Which Lasts

It’s normal to want shutters that will look brand-new several years after installation. A good number of composite shutters are prone to fading or yellowing over their lifetime. Our Polywood shutters are coated with a unique paint that contains UV-inhibitors which keeps your shutters looking brand-new. All of our shutters are a breeze to keep clean by easily wiping with a dustrag.

Warranty

Warranties are an additional key element when purchasing shutters and window treatments. When selecting a top of the line shutter, you need a warranty to protect your investment. Our Polywood shutters come with a limited lifetime warranty that protect you from any imperfections in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters come with a limited warranty which protects you from any defects.
